Upon completion of their osteopathic studies, students must write and successfully defend an osteopathic thesis before receiving the title of DOMP (Diploma of Osteopathy, Manual Practice).
Le Collège d’Étude Ostéopathique (CEO) in Montreal also offers a full time program in French for students wishing to pursue a condensed osteopathic training.
The CEO’s curriculum presents the student with a detailed anatomical and physiological understanding of:
-
The myofascial chains and matrix of the body
-
The vertebral column, thorax and limbs
-
The cranial mechanism
-
The visceral organs and network of the glands
-
The fluidic and pressure systems
Combined with studies in pathophysiology, assessment skills and differential diagnosis, CEO’s curriculum properly prepares the student practitioner to apply the osteopathic methodology within the treatment session.
The NSAO Nova Scotia Association of osteopath's approves schools based on the standards set by the World Osteopathic Health Organization (WOHO). WOHO'S guidance and philosophies are accepted worldwide. The schools within Canada meet and exceed the criteria set by the WOHO and have been able to maintain the practice and tradition of manual skills passed down through generations of Osteopaths from A. T. Still (the founder of Osteopathy).
